Catherine Quay was born in Co. Down, Ireland about 1751. Her daughter Ann married C S Sims and they were recorded living in Union County, South Carolina in 1850.
Catherine Quay was the widow of Captain Alexander Quay of Newry, Co. Down, Ireland and Chester County, South Carolina whose will dated 1830 named one enslaved woman Mary. In Catherine's will dated 1843, she names a girl Mary Charlotte, a boy Hamilton, a girl Emma, a boy Theodore and a girl Sophia.
