Thomas Gordon was born in Ireland about 1770 but was living in Abbeville, South Carolina in 1850. His wife Mary was born in South Carolina. Although Thomas Gordon enslaved seven people in 1850, his 1853 will, names only one; Sally, a girl aged nine or ten. Sally was to become the property of his wife Mary, but all her children were to become the property of his daughter Nancy.
His children named in his will are Thomas, Abraham, James, Robert and Nancy (by his wife Mary).
He also names a son William as joint executor of his will with his son Thomas.
