John Cairnes was born in Ireland about 1808. In 1850 he lived in Yorkville, York, South Carolina with William H Cairnes, a six year old boy and enslaved three human beings, the youngest a baby boy aged one year. His nearest neighbour was Robert Cairnes also born in Ireland.
