Mary Carrroll was born in Ireland about 1782. She lived in Edgefield, South Carolina in 1850 with a twelve year old boy named Oscar LaBorde (her grandson). Mary Carroll enslaved 73 men, women and children.
In her will dated 18 Aug. 1849, she named the following enslaved people:
Sarah and 'the youngest two children she may have at the time of my decease' to 'my daughter' Elizabeth C Laborde'
Jane to grandaughter Ellen Carroll Laborde
Captain to grandson Oscar Whitfield Laborde
Fanny to grandaughter Mary Elizabeth Laborde.
Mary Carroll also named her son James Parsons Carroll, daughters Mary Parson Brooks and Sophia P Laborde (dec.), and son-in-law Dr. Max Laborde.
