Michael Magee was born In Antrim, Ireland in 1759. He died in Abbeville County in 1834. His wife was Anna Melvina Sims 1763-1838. They were founder members of the Turkey Creek Baptist Church. According to research undertaken by Linda G Cheek of the Anderson County Chapter of the South Carolina Genealogical Society, Michael Magee was a brother of William Magee/McKee born 1860 Antrim, Ireland who died in Anderson County, SC, Tilman Magee 1799-1850 Pickens County, SC and Benjamin Magee 1772-1860 Fair Play, Pickens County, SC.
In Anna Melvina Sims Magee's will dated 25 Sept. 1837 she names her children:
Elizabeth S Sims
Abner H Magee
Nancy Barmore (deceased)
Upon his death in 1834, Michael Magee's estate was administered by Burrell McGee, Abner H McGee, William Barmore and Ezekiel Rasor. The inventory of Michael Magee's estate was taken on 24 Nov. 1834. In it the following enslaved people were named and given a monetary value:
Dick and Siller (valued at $400)
Tim, Florah and Mahaly (valued at $800)
Sadly it is unclear if the following are the names of enslaved people or those of farm animals...
